Day four is winding down and it feels like we have been doing this a while. The people we are meeting, the stories being told, the food being grown, the chefs working their mastery, and the people who just want access to fresh, local, foods are all conspire to humble and inspire me.
We have attended three markets between Connecticut and Rhode Island; Visited four farms, from large to the very small; eaten at three amazing restaurants whose chefs have a passion for locally sourced food and a vision for how they want transform those ingredients into their own unique masterpieces.
But more important than any of those stats are the people that we have met and their impact either as consumers, producers or facilitators in the entire food ecosystem. I have a load of images that I am editing and hope to get those up on my Stories site shortly so that I can begin to share with you what I am seeing, learning and feeling. In the meantime, I will keep sending out brief updates on Instagram, Twitter, and FB to wet your appetite for the story that is slowiy unfolding.
Tomorrow I ride to Boston from Providence where I will visit another farm, meet more inspiring people and once again dine at a restaurant that features fresh locally sourced fair.
A special thanks to those that have helped me out on this journey to date. No names needed, you know who you are and I am eternally grateful for your hospitality and generosity.
More to come...
