The Movie Production

As Don Miguel Ruiz states, "we are each our own personal movie producer".   Each day we dream of future and past events, creating our own personal movies.  These movies of future and past serve to create a sense of angst within ourselves.  They highlight how much better the future can be or how great the past was, anything other than how beautiful and perfect our life is today.  What if we harness the power of the mind to create beautiful movies that only center on today. What if all of the characters are perfect; the location is perfect; the weather is perfect.  What if the story is full of love and compassion, with  much happiness emanating from all the characters, not just those in the lime light.

The question is how do we do this, how do we harness the immense power of the mind and apply it to today.  We all know that the power exists for we have all spent time dreaming the dream.  It feels real, has a warmth that rises up from within;  it is so often capable of bringing a smile to our face.  We know that the mind and the dreams of the day have this power to make us feel good, only to then see us awakened and filled with angst.  For these dreams of the day, these movie productions, they serve to highlight the difference between where we are today, what we have today and who we are today with what could be or once was.

If we can create the perfect movie each day, we eliminate this sense of angst.  We can still dream the dream of tomorrow and of the past, for we are human and this will not stop.  But if we make the dream/movie of today perfect in every way, then their is no imbalance.  We will cease to feel angst and dread over thoughts of not having enough, of not being in the right place, of not being with the right person or partner.  We each have the capacity to produce this most excellent movie. The power of our production capabilities is to simply accept that where you are right now; what you are doing right now; who you are with right now; and all the other possible “now’isms”, are absolutely perfect right now.  The movie cant be made better today, for it is perfect in every way.

When we accept and embrace this as a way of living our lives, then we are opening ourselves up to being pure joy and pure love.  We eliminate the constant barrage of thoughts in our minds, the voices that are constantly telling us all the reasons that the movie of the day is insufficient, not perfect, and all the ways it could be made better..  By eliminating these negatives we are finally free to simply ‘Be in the Now’.  Life can now be full and rich, lived in the moment and not the past or the future.

Make the choice each and every day, to produce the most amazing movie of all time.  Accept that today’s feature film is perfect, that it has received ‘Two Thumbs up from Siskel and Ebert’; that Vanity Fair called it “The most amazing feature film of our time, a must see by all”; and that Entertainment Tonight dedicated a full episode to speaking about the quality of the characters and the beautiful cinematography, unlike anything they had ever seen..

You won an Academy award today, smile, life is good, your movie is perfect.  When you wake tomorrow, just do it again.
