The Joy of Cycling

I have had a love affair with biking most of my entire life.  I can still remember my banana seat bike with the big rear rack that I built in my early years.  Jumping that thing off of homemade drops, decorating the spokes with neon colored straws... Yep, those were the days, just like these are still the days!

While I spend almost all of my adventuring time traveling Solo, it is so nice to come back to a place where you can go out and ride the trails with good friends and some 4 legged creatures.  I don't exactly know what it is, but there is something so very special about biking -- especially when we get to share it with special people.

Today E and I got out for a nice ride in one of the wildlife refuges in North East Maine.  The trail was still soft from the winter melt and their were still bits of snow on the shaded parts of the trail. I was on the Muk with the Husker Du's back in place and E rode her beloved orange Troll.   While it was still cool, and much of the area was barren, there were also signs of spring, with trees starting to bud, and the moss and lichen starting to take root on logs long covered with snow.

It won't be long before the leaves fill in and the warmth of the long summer days return.
