Beauty and Death - Life is Short

Flowers are one of the quickest and easiest ways to spot the transition from summer to fall. Death and decay are all around, and yet stragglers hold on to their inherent beauty.  I love this contrast and felt this was a worthy second post depicting the transition that is taking place in Down East Maine.

Life is very short and that message is something I talk about very often.  I am sure that at times it begins to sound like a broken record or some form of hollow mantra.  I can assure you, for me, nothing could be farther from the truth.  My dear friend, Ukey, whom I just sat and joked with less than a week ago, was diagnosed with a brain tumor this past week and spent the better part of a day undergoing major surgery.  The effect on him, his family, and those of us that love and adore him is profound.  Life is short, you must find a way to live every day in the now, for their are absolutely no guarantees about the future or that the future will ever be a reality.  The only moment that you have any control over (and that can be seriously debated, is right now).

Ukey, I love you and am rooting for you.  Get well my friend.
