One more reason why bikes rule!

Just a quick note to say that travel by bike is just insanely fun!  As I wrote before, I made the jump from the West Coast to the East Coast largely because of a crazy Jet Blue deal.  But what I really want to point out is how much fun it was to not have to rent a car, hire a taxi, or do any of those other activities which end up costing so much money. 

Instead, I was able to: ride to a coffee shop, meet up with veggie oil Kevin a ride share entrepreneur, camp one night, pick up a bike box at a bike shop and ride down street carrying said box  to the airport, take my bike apart and box it up, sleep in the airport, fly to the east coast, unbox and re-assemble my bike, catch a shuttle bus to the train station, ride two trains to the main train station, sleep in the train station, eat 2 donuts and a snickers bar, catch the big train to Portland Maine, step off the train and begin riding my bike again!! 

I had no issues at all with this entire effort.  Trains were great, airline employees were helpful, Kevin was awesome, etc.  The only thing that would have made the experience any better would have been to be riding a folding bike like the Bike Friday.  So, what are you waiting for, ditch the car and buy a bike!
